Welcoming Kumu Kaimana Chee @kaimana77 to launch the in·corpus Pasifika Series!
This 90-min, open-level workshop will offer newcomers an introduction to hula, including history, terminology, and cultural significance; and offer seasoned ʻōlapa manaʻo and embodied practice in the style of Hālau Nohona Hawaiʻi.

KAIMANA CHEE is the Kumu Hula of Hālau Nohona Hawai’i, located in the DMV region. A registered non-profit, Hālau Nohona Hawai’i has served the community as a Hawaiian Cultural Organization through hula, language, music, and cultural arts education since 2014.
Kumu Kaimana was born and raised on the northeast shore of Oʻahu (Laʻie, Hauʻula). His hula journey started at a young age under the direction of Kumu Richard Peters, and was influenced by instruction from Nā Kumu Sunday Mariterangi, Keith Awai, Kaulana Kasparovich, Victoria Holt Takamine, and Ellen Castillio.
In 2000, Kaimana began an apprenticeship with Hālau O Kekela, under the direction of Kumu Kela Miller of Lāʻie. In 2009, she accompanied Kaimana to Tokyo, Japan where she performed ʻuniki rites and endowed him with the gift and responsibility of Kumu. Performances and teaching have taken Kaimana across the globe to Japan, Singapore, Europe, and more.
Kaimana is a world-renowned professional Chef representing various food brands and products as a Chef/Brand Ambassador.
