Prepare to be dazzled by the virtuosity and sensuality at this year’s salsa spectacular
Vancouver, BC– After captivating audiences with their inaugural dance and music spectacular in 2010, the Vancouver International Salsafestival returns March 3 to 6, 2011 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. With more than 2,500 dancers and performers expected to attend from 15 countries around the world, this year’s salsa festival promises show-stopping performances, intricate footwork, deep backbends, and legs for days – prepare to be dazzled by mesmerizing, high-energy and unforgettable performances of Latin dance coupled with other diverse dance styles.
“We are extremely proud to have built on the success of last year’s salsa event to provide a hugely entertaining program for 2011 that includes new classes, performances, themed parties and exciting dance opportunities not-to-be missed,” explained Cheyenne Kamran, Executive Director, Vancouver International Salsafestival. “This year’s program is, again, designed to accommodate dancers of all levels and experience. Whether learning, watching or participating, there are opportunities for all Vancouverites to kick up their heels and immerse themselves in the powerful rhythms of salsa dance.”
While audience members can watch and listen to the best of Cha Cha, Reggaton, Bachata, Merengue, Salsa and more, the Vancouver International Salsafestival will also showcase a wide variety of dance styles from the highest caliber of performers in burlesque, hip hop, tap, contemporary, tango, ballet and more. The extensive program of events ensures that each ticket holder will enjoy a multitude of dance experiences the entire run of the festival.
Highlights of the festival include:
· Four nights of parties and performances with leading dancers from around the world
· A James Bond-themed gala: one of the largest ever in Vancouver
· International DJs spinning in multiple party rooms each night
· A 12-piece live Latin band
· Beginner Salsa Bootcamp – an easy, engaging class where you can learn to salsa in just one day
