Ahtoy WonPat-Borja

Artistic Director, Co-Founder

Ahtoy began her professional dance training in childhood in Guam and studied classical ballet and modern dance with the Houston and San Francisco Ballet Companies. Ahtoy became a top International Latin Ballroom competitor in the collegiate circuit while attending Columbia University. As one of the principal dancers and instructors of salsa company, Santo Rico, she has performed in over 35 cities worldwide in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Americas.

Gulsaya Tuleubayeva

Dancer

Gulsaya Tuleubayeva was born and raised in Kazakhstan.  She joined a classical ballet and world dance company at the age of 7 and continued to dance throughout her childhood, winning several city-wide competitions for solo pieces in bellydancing and the traditional dances of India and Uzbekistan.

Marlon Valle

Dancer

Immigrating to New York from Ecuador with his parents at a very young age, Marlon’s involvement in dance was unexpected yet unavoidable. Marlon’s love for music began at home, but became deeply rooted while working with community based organizations. He learned to appreciate and became deeply connected to his Latin roots while participating in cultural events that exposed him to the dances and music of so many different countries.

Andrew Yu

Spring 2007, after a sneaky salsa fairy planted a flier on a Seattle street advertising salsa lessons, Andrew, who had nothing better to do than pick up a dirty piece of paper off the ground, became a salsa junkie who satisfied his cravings through daily trips to salsa classes, performing, teaching and killing time watching youtube videos.

Daniel Enskat

Director, Co-Founder

Daniel holds Master's Degrees in History, Politics and Law, and speaks six languages fluently, currently studying his seventh language, Mandarin. He was born in Germany and the United States awarded him an O-Visa status to work in the U.S. as a "person with extraordinary abilities in business" in the field of international finance as Global Head of Consulting and Senior Managing Director.

Joseph Rivera

Director, Co-Founder

"Being Puerto Rican and growing up in the LES, Salsa music was the soundtrack for much of my formative years" says Joseph. "Some of my fondest memories of my mother are of us sitting on the fire escape on a hot summer day listening to Frankie Ruiz.

Gabriela Quiles

Dancer

Gabriela's dance career began at the age of eight in Ridgewood Queens at the Ridgewood Dance Studio, taking Lyrical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Tap classes every week. Gabriela has performed on several cruise ships, amusement parks, and taken part in many dance competitions all over New York. As an aspiring dancer, she has always been passionate about her work.

Thaikisha Alvarez

Construction Estimator by day...Salsera by night. "I keep myself busy busy busy and focused with my eye on the prize. Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak. Sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go."

Luis Ampuero

Dancer

Originally from Bolivia, Luis has lived in many different countries including France, Honduras and Costa Rica; studying languages and immersing himself in the culture.  As an athlete, Luis competed at a high level in the disciplines of tennis, swimming, basketball and karate.  Studying multiple musical instruments, he plays the trombone, guitar and drums.  Mostly proficient in piano, Luis has performed at international concert halls and on live radio.

Andre Irving

Andre Irving graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a BFA in Computer Graphics and animation.  Born in Brooklyn to a  Jamaican family he was raised on a mixture of reggae and hip hop music.
